Dream Catcher Mandala Art

Dream Catcher Mandala Drawing

“Dreams are necessary. Like the air, without realizing it, I, you, and we all need dreams. The dreams that guide us on what we do today because today is the answer to our dreams the other day.” - Alanda Kariza

The dream catcher is a spiritual tool that protects us from bad dreams and nightmares. It acts as a spider’s web for bad visions and nightmares while allowing good visions and dreams to pass through it. They bring good luck and positive energy with them.

Since we sleep on the bed, dream catchers too are hung above the bed. It is important that wherever the dream catcher is hung, that place should receive ample sunlight.

This way, when the first ray if sun strikes the dream catcher, all the negative energy caught in the structure get destroyed.

In many Native American tribes, a dream catcher is a handmade willow hoop woven to a web or literally, a net. A dream catcher also includes such features as feathers and beads.

They are traditionally suspended on cradles as a form of armor and protection. They are dazzling, delicate, vivid, intriguing, beautiful and interesting.

Things required for this mandala:-

1. Pencil

2. A4 size sheet/ivory sheet

3. Compass

4. Pencil colors or water colors

5. Black marker

Steps Involved:-

* Draw at least 3 to 4 concentric circles with the help of a compass. Increase the radius of your circle with every strike, that is; your first circle should be of radius 3 or 3.5 cm, your second circle should be of radius 6 cm, your third circle should be of 7 cm and your last circle should be of 7.3 cm.

* Now draw 5 straight lines of different lengths hanging downwards from the last circle. At the end of each line draw a feather which has a shape of an Oak tree leaf (these leaves are elliptical in shape with wavy lobes cleft and a pointed end).

* Now we will start filling the circles of the dream catcher, on the boundary of the inner circle I have drawn 3-layer petal design which includes a layer of small petals first, then between every two-small petals draw a layer of medium size petals, and inside them draw long petals.

On the spaces left between every two-medium size petals draw a broad shaped petal, follow this pattern throughout the layer of medium size petals. Make pollen shaped dots in the remaining spaces.

* Now, on the boundary of the second circle draw a layer of tomb shaped petals, and in the spaces between the two petals draw a small double layered semicircle which has a layer of tiny humps on it.

Draw this pattern between every two-tomb shaped petal. Darken all of these designs with the help of a bold black marker.

* Move to the five feathers now, first with a black marker darken their boundary. Now fill every feather with unique compact mandala designs such as; triangles, circles, zig-zag lines, humps and crisscross patterns.

Darken all of these designs with a black marker as well.

* Now, inside the last circle you can either fill it with a color of your choice or leave it empty.

Try it yourself now!!
